Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Collin Gibson is an artist deeply rooted in the golden age of hip-hop. Growing up, he was exposed to a rich blend of sounds from all regions of the U.S.—from the lyrical mastery of East Coast rap to the soulful rhythms of the South, to the raw energy of freestyle culture. Smooth, bass-heavy, and undeniably Midwest, "Black Ice" is a cruising anthem that embodies the essence of classic ride-out music. With silky-smooth raps, a deep, rolling beat, and a hypnotic melodic hook, Collin Gibson delivers a track that feels like a late-night drive through the city—cool, confident, and effortlessly stylish.

But what truly makes "Black Ice" special is the historic collaboration at its heart. For the first time ever, Gibson shares the mic with his mother, Melody Wynn, a celebrated music performer in her own right. From her residencies in Atlantic City to opening for Elton John at Harley Davidson’s 100th Anniversary Festival at Summerfest, Wynn brings a level of soul and experience that elevates the track to something timeless.

Paying homage to the golden era of hip-hop while keeping the sound fresh, "Black Ice" is a testament to Gibson’s ability to blend storytelling, rhythm, and deep musical roots. This is more than just a song—it’s a generational moment, a meeting of past and present, and a smooth, bass-driven ride you won’t forget.

🚘 Press play, turn the volume up, and let "Black Ice" take you on a ride.

Collin Gibson is another alumni of Tru Skool Tuesday (the Event). Truth be told Collin Gibson was the 1st artist to bring what became our core audience out. Back then he was known as NDB and had a record called "Cuffin". "Cuffin" is a dope chic record. Nothing deep just fun and made girls want to dance. It was a hit record not because he said so or because I said so but because people responded to it. Then I watched him go through some sort of metamorphosis. He had a feature one night and did a song I think was called Back Pack. I think that was the night NDB died and Collin Gibson (the Artist) was born. The dude I once said was the next LL seemed to rebel against his mass appeal for a more artistic version of himself who could spit and say something more. At that point I knew that I was wrong for comparing him to LL (which was only because I knew that dude could just about rhyme about anything and appeal to a lot of people). Collin showed me something way deeper. He showed me an artistic genius who would forever be hard to define because he would forever be evolving. He's the smart guy in the class that cuts up because the class is too slow for him. He's a free man and Freedom is a Road Seldom Traveled by the Multitudes.”
